Hello, I'm Stephanie the Dyslexic OT
Â
Hello! I’m Stephanie, often referred to as the  Dyslexic OT. I received my dyslexia diagnosis at  the age of 31, after navigating the UK education system as an undiagnosed child.Â
I have a deep understanding of the challenges  that come with struggling through education.  During my time in higher education, I  encountered various difficulties until a colleague pointed out issues in my report writing.Â
Growing up, I worked twice as hard to keep up in school and later in the workplace. Tasks like writing, organisation, and processing information took far more effort than they did for others, despite my ability and motivation. Like many dyslexic adults, I carried self-doubt while appearing capable on the outside.
Gaining my diagnosis was an “aha” moment that clarified many of my unique traits.Â
Throughout my adult life, I have had to advocate for my needs, and I've come to realise that there is still much work to be done to support dyslexic adults who have faced similar challenges.Â
I’m also a parent to two dyslexic children, and dyslexia runs through my family. This gives me a deep, real-world understanding of the challenges dyslexic people face,  at school, at work, and beyond.
As an occupational therapist, I know that the skills of an OT are ideally suited to assist dyslexic adults
Through my own journey and professional training, including earning a Master of Occupational Therapy Degree, I learned that dyslexia isn’t a limitation,  it just requires the right strategies.
Â
Today, I support dyslexic adults to:
-
Work with their brain, not against it
-
Reduce overwhelm and exhaustion
-
Build sustainable systems that actually stick
-
Feel confident, capable, and in control at work
If you’re tired of coping and ready to thrive as a dyslexic professional, you’re in the right place.
