Are you a dyslexic adult and fed up with feeling like you are not good enough?

If you feel like no matter how hard you try, it's never good enough, you're not alone.

Living with dyslexia as an adult often comes with silent challenges that many people don’t see or understand. Everyday tasks, from reading important documents, to organising schedules, to remembering details at work, can feel overwhelming and exhausting.

Many adults with dyslexia describe feeling:

  • Frustrated when reading and writing take longer than expected.
  • Embarrassed when misunderstandings happen in professional or social settings.
  • Overwhelmed by memory struggles, time management, and staying organised.
  • Drained from masking difficulties or working twice as hard just to keep up.
  • Misunderstood because others assume dyslexia is “just about reading” when really, it touches many parts of life.

More needs to be done to support dyslexic adults, including educating non-dyslexics about the benefits we bring! If you agree, you're in the right spot.

Building a community

Put the techniques you’ve learned into practice and share your dyslexia journey with others.

When I spoke with fellow dyslexics while building this course, one theme kept coming up: the need for community.

One of our greatest strengths is creativity. And community helps us tap into that. By connecting with other dyslexics, you can learn from their experiences, share your own, and discover creative solutions to shared challenges. It’s like crowdsourcing support, without the chaos and judgment you might find on places like Reddit.

Many students find it incredibly powerful to realise they’re not alone, to hear that others are navigating similar struggles and still finding meaningful ways to show up for themselves.

We can’t wait to connect and grow with you!

 Let me introduce myself

Hello! I’m Stephanie, often referred to as the Dyslexic OT. I received my dyslexia diagnosis at the age of 31, after navigating the UK education system as an undiagnosed child.

I have a deep understanding of the challenges that come with struggling through education. During my time in higher education, I encountered various difficulties until a colleague pointed out issues in my report writing.

Gaining my diagnosis was an “aha” moment that clarified many of my unique traits.

Throughout my adult life, I have had to advocate for my needs, and I've come to realise that there is still much work to be done to support dyslexic adults who have faced similar challenges.

As an occupational therapist, I know that the skills of an OT are ideally suited to assist dyslexic adults

But getting here wasn't easy......

Education System

I was that child who found themselves in the lowest reading group and was dissuaded from pursuing a second language or certain science subjects.

Throughout my school years, I often felt inadequate compared to my classmates.

Work life

I began my career in administrative roles right after school, but I soon realised that I wasn’t as fast as my colleagues when it came to writing emails or reports.

I often felt as though I was falling behind  and wasn't as good as my peers.

University

At university, I had to advocate for myself, particularly during my placements. I struggled to get my head around academic writing and after a struggle with my assignment in 2nd year I taught myself how to write academically.

Receiving my degree  is one of my greatest challenges and achievement.
